Network Computing Architects Inc. (NCA) Moves Enterprises
to Smarter Wi-Fi with Ruckus Wireless
BELLEVUE, WA – March 16, 2009 – Network Computing Architects Inc. (NCA), a leading national technology and consulting firm, announced today that it has selected and is standardizing on Ruckus Wireless™ ZoneFlex™ Smart wireless LAN (WLAN) technology to support next- generation wireless LAN (WLAN) applications within a wide range of enterprise environments throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Over the last six months, NCA has installed Ruckus Smart WLAN systems in a variety of premiere enterprises such as Sea Mar Community Health Centers, Pacific Seafood, The Recording Academy (producers of the GRAMMY Awards) and University Swaging, a Seattle-based manufacturer of actuation and control systems.
NCA’s selection of Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi technology is based on explosive demand for faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connectivity to support a myriad of media-rich applications from graphics-rich Internet access to IP-based voice and video communications.
“NCA has a reputation for identifying and delivering the most innovative and secure networking systems that deliver unmatched performance and value – and smarter Wi-Fi is no exception,” said Tom Gobeille, president and CEO of NCA. “As more and more Wi-Fi-enabled devices of every shape and size hit the market, faster and more reliable Wi-Fi technology – that improves productivity while reducing cost – is essential. Ruckus Wireless has effectively transformed Wi-Fi from a technology of convenience into a reliable and ubiquitous utility on which companies can now depend.”
Unlike other Wi-Fi technology, Smart Wi-Fi from Ruckus Wireless is based on state-of-the-art Wi-Fi signal routing technology that extends signal range and automatically adapts to changes in the environment that degrade performance and allows enterprises to offer better coverage and more reliable services at a lower total cost of ownership.
“Reliability with mobility for network computing is no longer an option for hospitals, schools, hotels and nearly any enterprise imaginable,” said Gobeille. “ The medium must be as reliable as wires for enterprises to truly embrace Wi-Fi as a primary means of connectivity. The convergence of faster Wi-Fi with 802.11n, dropping silicon prices and innovations such as beamforming that increase Wi-Fi reliability has now made this possible.”
Gobeille noted that the ability to reliably deploy Wi-Fi access points without having to run Ethernet cabling to every device, a concept called smart wireless meshing, is another huge advantage in minimizing complexity and cost related to Wi-Fi deployment.
Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi is based on recent technical advances that enable Wi-Fi signals to be focused only toward users requiring service. Through the use of patented beamforming and beamsteering technology called BeamFlex™, Wi-Fi signals are constantly routed over the highest performing paths and around obstacles that cause interference and degraded performance.
“Given the choice between wires or no wires, everyone will choose wireless everyday and twice on Sundays - but only if it’s reliable,” said David Callisch, VP of marketing for Ruckus Wireless. “Better Wi-Fi reliability at range is what enterprises want and what we are dedicated to delivering as a company. NCA realizes the importance of this trend and is doing something about it.”
